September was bookended by the most incredible week of my career. I travelled to Venice to visit Homo Faber 2026: An Island of Light, an extraordinary celebration of contemporary craftsmanship held on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore during the Venice Biennale. Curated by Es Devlin, the exhibition brought together the work of over 400 artisans from around the world, creating a remarkable showcase of the skill, imagination and ingenuity of human hands.

For me, it was a particularly special visit. My sculpture Aeolus was among the works recognised with the Homo Faber Open Call Jury's Choice Award, alongside nine other makers. This meant that the ten of us were invited to stay in Venice for a series of events culminating in the closing ceremony where we were presented with the award.

My plus one for the week was my mother, I could not think of a person who I would have rather shared the week. From the beginning of my career in craft when I was 17 doing my apprenticeship to now over a decade later she has been my biggest champion and supporter and very much the reason that I am doing what I am now. She had an incredible time in Venice and I feel so lucky to have been able to share the experience with her.

Thank you to Homo Faber and to everyone behind the scenes who made the event happen I feel incredibly fortunate and honoured to have received the award and am incredibly motivated and inspired to continue working!
